Christmas Homecare Services – here we are again!

‘We wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas,
And a Happy New Year’

The carol singers are out and about, wishing everyone good cheer, merriment, and happy times for the Christmas Season

Historically it’s a time for families to get together and rejoice in each other’s company.  To over indulge in turkey with all the festive trimmings and to enjoy the ‘odd tipple’ or two. It’s a time to give thanks and show gratitude – after all, we’ve made it through another year – and we’re surrounded by our loved ones – young and old.

It’s a magical time for children – to watch their eyes light up and their faces aglow.  They’ve been to see Santa and written letters to him – left out a mince pie for the big fella and a carrot for Rudolph.  They believe in the magic of Christmas – in Santa Claus and his mission to deliver presents for all children – far and wide. Innocence in abundance as they gaze in awe at the sparkly decorations and front gardens lit up at night – just waiting for the Eve of Christmas, the most wonderful evening of the year

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer,
Had a very shiny nose
And all the other reindeer
Used to laugh and say ‘it glows’’

But for many, Christmas isn’t textbook.  It isn’t a time for laughter and joy.  It can be the saddest time of the year. – the loneliest time, ‘a time for reflection and memories’.   A time for looking back on Christmases past, times spent around the Christmas tree with loved ones who aren’t with us anymore.  Of times spent at the dining table, carving the turkey and dishing up the roast potatoes – making sure the younger ones have a portion of brussel sprouts on their plates. Pulling crackers and laughing at Grandad in his paper hat.  So often, there is an empty chair at the dining table – a reminder of happier times – that special person who we always pulled our cracker with, is no longer with us and Christmas will never be the same again.

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head
The stars in the bright sky look down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay

But at Wellbeing Homecare Services, we will do all we can to help bring that joy back into the lives of people feeling sad at this time of year.  We visit those over the Christmas period who may otherwise be alone and make sure they have a festive meal and a mince pie.  We’ll probably be wearing hats and dressed as elves – but as long as we bring a smile to the face of your loved one it will all be worthwhile.  Christmas doesn’t have to be a lonely, sad time of the year.  It can be a time when we cherish those memories even more and count our blessings as we say goodbye to this year and welcome in the new one

So if you don’t get carol singers this year then you can rest assured of a rendition from one of our lovely ladies – they might not be in tune, but they’ll certainly brighten up your loved ones day.

The holly and the ivy
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown

Bless you all, and from all of us at Wellbeing Homecare Services, we hope Christmas brings you contentment and happiness and that good health is with you all as we enter the New Year.  Wellbeing – offering Christmas Homecare Services year after year – you can always rely on our cheery visits.
