Choosing the right care company for a much cherished family member is a minefield.
Sometimes after a fall, an illness or a stay in hospital, your loved one may feel less confident to venture out on their own and normal activities can become insurmountable. The best carers are adaptable to the changing needs of your loved ones and they will be able to accommodate their needs based on any changes in health, preferences, or circumstances.
It’s not only the practical needs that want taking care of but also their emotional and spiritual needs. Sometimes our care users are on their own for a large part of the day and would love to be able to have a cup of tea and a natter. Wellbeing Homecare Services offer companionship as well as care. In the photograph you will see that our carer took great pleasure in taking one of our service users out to our local Bark and Brew Cafe for a cup of tea and a natter. Our service user also likes to be able to visit the local chip shop, something that she used to enjoy doing. These occasions always put a smile on her face and she goes home feeling happy and fulfilled.
Wellbeing Homecare Services was created because of our own experiences. We understood there was something missing from the care services that were on offer for our own parents. It just wasn’t enough. We wanted the caregiver to spend time with our family member, talking to them, taking them out, asking them about their day and enjoying hobbies and stories with them. Seeing this disparity between what we wanted, and what was available, we started our own care company. We pride ourselves on listening to our lovely service users and help them fulfil their needs, whether it be baking, watching a programme, reading to them, taking them out for a walk to the local cafe or making sure they take their meds!
What else can you and should you expect when choosing the right care company?
Not only should quality carers be trained, experienced, and competent in providing the appropriate care for your loved one but they will also be able to provide medical care and assistance with daily activities as well as compassion, empathy and a genuine interest in the well-being of your loved one.
Depending on your loved one’s needs, our caregivers may assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. They may also help with tasks around the house, like meal preparation, light housekeeping and a bit of shopping. If they take medication, they may be responsible for ensuring that they take it as prescribed and on time.
It’s essential that carers respect the dignity and independence of your loved ones and so often this can be overlooked. This includes involving them in decision-making where possible and allowing them to maintain a sense of control over their lives. Our caregivers will respect your loved one’s privacy and dignity, maintain confidentiality and provide an environment where your loved one feels comfortable.
