A Day with Wellbeing Homecare Provider Derby 💙

This story is based on the real experiences of the people we support and our care team. All names, personal details & images have been changed

Margaret likes her mornings slow.  Not rushed. Not noisy. Just the kettle on, the curtains gently opened, and the comfort of knowing someone familiar will be arriving soon.

At 8:30am, there’s a knock at the door. It’s Sarah, one of Margaret’s regular caregivers. They’ve known each other for a long time now, and the greeting is easy and warm, like old friends catching up.

Morning Moments That Matter

While the kettle boils, Sarah helps Margaret with her morning medication, making sure everything is taken correctly and at the right time. There’s no rush, just gentle reassurance and conversation about what the day might bring.

Breakfast is prepared exactly how Margaret likes it. Toast, fruit, and a proper cup of tea. Before leaving, Sarah also prepares a lunch and leaves it in the fridge, so Margaret doesn’t have to worry later when she’s on her own.

Before Sarah goes, they talk through the day ahead. Margaret knows someone will be back. That reassurance stays with her long after the door closes.

Getting Out and About

Late morning is Margaret’s favourite time on Tuesdays.

Tom arrives for her next visit, and today they’re heading out. Just a short walk to the local café, but to Margaret, it feels like a small adventure. Getting out of the house, seeing familiar faces, being part of the world again.

They sit by the window with tea and cake, watching people pass by. Conversation flows easily. Laughter comes naturally.

Before heading home, Tom pops into the local shop to pick up a few essentials. And on Fridays? Fish and chips are non-negotiable, a tradition they both take seriously.

Quiet Afternoons, Peace of Mind

Back at home, Tom makes sure Margaret is comfortable before leaving her to enjoy a quiet afternoon. Her phone is charged. Her favourite chair is ready. Everything she might need is close by.

This is what good care looks like. Not hovering. Not taking over. Just being there when needed.

Ending the Day the Right Way

As evening approaches, Sarah returns for the final visit of the day. Evening medication is given, a light meal prepared, and Margaret is helped to get settled for the night.

Sometimes they chat about the day. Sometimes about memories from years gone by. Sometimes they sit in comfortable silence.

Before leaving, Sarah reminds Margaret when she’ll be back. That matters too.

Margaret smiles. Another good day.
