So many of us are blessed in spending many years of our lives sharing our days with a loved one.  We build memories together and take valuable comfort from this companionship.  We may have holidays, build a family and enjoy adventures together.

Even small moments shared are so precious – like watching TV and cooking a nice meal.  A day trip out, probably at the coast, or a meal at that special restaurant for a treat.  An evening at the theatre, sitting in the garden on a sunny day with a glass of wine.  So many things in life we do with that special person and take for granted they will never be taken away – but of course, it can’t last forever.

The impact of losing someone you love is life-changing.  Emotionally, you’re riding a roller-coaster of grief.  Nothing makes sense anymore and days merge into each other.  Your heart actually feels as though it’s breaking and it’s hard to look forward to the future and what it might bring.  For some of us, life eventually gets back to some sort of normality, although it will never be the same, for others, we may have relied upon that other person more than just for companionship.  They may have been a ‘helping pair of hands’ and you’re struggling in more ways than you imagined to get through the days.

At Wellbeing Homecare Services, whilst we can never replace your loved one, we can be that ‘helpful pair of hands’.

We can support you with washing and dressing if this is a problem for you on your own.  We can cook you a meal and make you a cup of tea.  Maybe sort your laundry and pick up those domestic jobs that are now proving difficult.  Perhaps your confidence has seriously been affected.  It’s now difficult to get your head around leaving the house – even the thought of going to the supermarket is causing anxiety.  We can be your ‘companion’ in both a physical and emotional sense – we can carry your bags but also drive you to the garden centre or the café and be someone to chat with over your coffee and cake.  Wellbeing Homecare Services can make sure you never miss an appointment.  We can do shopping calls for you and arrange any home visits you may need from professional people like the chiropodist – just let us know what you’re struggling with.  Perhaps, when you feel strong enough, you might want to join local groups – such as a Bereavement Group – but really can’t summon up the strength mentally to take that first step.  Then talk to us about it.  We can come along with you and help break down those barriers.  We can help you make new friends and give you a reason to put dates in your diary – events to look forward to.

Although at times the thought of staying at home after your loss might have been daunting, with our help we can make this happen wherever possible.  Grief will always be with you but with visits from our lovely, caring ladies at Wellbeing Homecare Services, you’ll gradually get back on track. Get in touch and we’ll be ready with a helping hand, listening ear and caring heart.
